Sakho v Carroll: who should start? Sakho out for Everton
Billic has a nice headache with Carroll coming back to form. The towering Geordie has rescued us a load of points in the last couple of games.

Should he start? Sakho is the one vulnerable. He is a good player - fast, technically decent and scores goals. But Carroll offers something different with his power and hold up play.

They're unlikely to play together under Billic's set up, so Sakho must continue scoring goals - at least one in three - to justify his place. Otherwise, it's time to bring back Carroll. Who agrees?

Nov 5th

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has confirmed Diafra Sakho is out of Saturday. game with Everton.

The striker missed last weeks, defeat at Watford and is also set to sit out at Upton Park this weekend. Bilic confirmed Sakho has a small tear in his thigh but is hoping the injury won't rule him out for too long.

The Hammers face rivals Spurs after the international break and that is the date set for Sakho's return at present. "Sakho is out. It's nothing major, he felt something after training last week and he has a small tear in his thigh," Bilic said. "He's out on Saturday but the prognosis is that he will be fit for the game after the international break.
"Everton is on one hand yes a special game for me, on another hand not. It's a big game against a good team. "On the other hand it is special because I played there and enjoyed it there. I played for two clubs here, so it is special, yes."

Sakho has done nothing to justify being dropped, his game isn't just about scoring goals, he's making space for the attacking midfielders to play.

Great situation to be in with Sakho in form as we can take our time with Carroll and Valencia.

Unlikely to play together?

Except they did yesterday. Sakho is currently the unsung hero of our team.

Ogbonna has been on the bench the last two games, Collins and Tomkins have been excellent so keep the shirts.

Depends on the opposition and how they generally set up but Bilic played a 4-4-2 on numerous occasions in Turkey.

Sakho, hardest worker in the team, probably in the prem.

Sahko by some distance. Irrespective of their individual 'ratings', Sahko is crucial to creating the space Payet, Lanzini and Moses then utilise. It is always going to be more static with Carroll and for me he is plan B, as used off the bench in the last couple of games.

Sakho, he works so fucking hard, no one has hardly mentioned his lack of goals because he fucking wears out the central defenders with his speed.

Then we bring on Carroll, I don't there is a centre half pairing in the league that will look forward to him coming on after 70 minutes as they are already fucking knackered and know they won't out jump him.

Sakho all day long. His work rate is relentless.
Carroll should only be given 30 minutes each game to create havoc.

The formula is working at the moment. Bring on Carroll later in the game. Should hopefully keep Carroll freer from injury, where his record isn't great.
If he can contribute as we are then great.

Re: Sakho v Carroll: who should start?
Losing Sahko last season to injury and the African cup of nations debacle was the beginning of our downfall.

For me there's is no debate really. Sahko is vital to how we play as a team both offensively and defensively. Barring injury or a serious loss of form, I'd always have him starting. Never gives defenses or goalkeepers peace. Tireless and trustworthy which is why Bilic takes off others to put Carrol on.

As we only play one upfront, I think Carrol is a man for the last 25mins of games when we can launch the ball into the box for him to jump at people or use him to hold the ball up when we are defending under pressure. His aerial threat is great but he's way too pedestrian for a team like ours which plays mainly with pace on the break and needs movement in the forward positions.
